Telecom Italia to boost DSL services with increased investments in next generation software solutions from Subex

February 03, 2009

Bangalore, INDIA: a leading global provider of Operations and Business Support Systems (OSS/BSS), today announced that it has extended its alliance with Telecom Italia (TI) to enable next generation IP and DSL services including Virtual Private Networks (VPN), Virtual Local Area Networks (VLAN) and Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS).

Under the terms of the partnership, TI will continue to evolve its New Generation Operations Support System (NGOSS) based on Subex's technology across Italy. This contract helps TI's efforts to minimize operational costs while offering its subscribers a very high level of service.

"We are very happy that Telecom Italia has re-instated it's faith in us and look forward to continuing, and even bettering our offerings to them," said Sudeesh Yezhuvath, COO, Subex Ltd. "This is also a clear indication of the superiority of our products and establishes us as a globally leading OSS/BSS solutions provider," he added.

Since 2000, Subex and TI have been working together to centralize and consolidate the management of TI's broadband network. Through the adoption of NGOSS concepts and its partnership with Subex, TI has achieved unparalleled domestic growth and worldwide attention while expanding internationally and outpacing national Public Telephone and Telegraph (PTT) organizations in their own home markets.

With Subex's NetProvision as the anchor component of its comprehensive New Generation Operations Support System (NGOSS), Telecom Italia is already managing most of its Alice® broadband services from a single engine and automating the provisioning of millions of lines with a common database.

Measuring the Substantial Results
TI has dramatically reduced time-to-service for new subscribers, accelerated time-to-market for new services, and vastly improved data integrity. From a cost perspective, TI's automated, integrated NGOSS platform has enabled a reduction in operational expenses by almost 40 percent since 2001, saving tens of millions of euros. In the background, TI has increased end-to-end broadband service activations from 1,000 per day to an average of 40,000 per day, with peaks at times double that rate. Order fallout rates have declined from 30 percent of orders to an exemplary 5 percent or less, which translates into as many as 2,000 orders every day that no longer require fallout analysis and re-provisioning. Furthermore, TI's operations staff can now process in one hour what previously took a full day. This tremendous progress has earned Telecom Italia a reputation among financial analysts as "best in class" for operations.
